Time flies. It’s been 18 months since Jin became the first BTS member to complete required military duty in South Korea. The singer, born Kim Seok-jin, will be freed from the military base camp this week, and his official completion date will be June 12.
“We are excited to bring you the news of Jin’s upcoming military discharge,” the group’s agency, BigHit Music, said in a statement. “Jin is close to completing his active service in the army and will soon be discharged.”
While celebrations are appropriate, no formal gathering has been scheduled for Jin’s release, and BigHit Music has asked that fans avoid crowding the release spot.
“Please take notice that the discharge day is just for military people. There are no special celebrations scheduled for Jin’s release day,” the statement said. “To avoid congestion, supporters are highly encouraged not to attend the place. Please keep my heartfelt thoughts and support in your hearts.
Jin started hinting at preparations for his comeback in January, after a year in service. To celebrate the New Year, he posted a pre-recorded video with followers, saying: “I’m leaving this video so you may view my gorgeous, handsome face and have a pleasant January and February. I miss you all. “I miss you so much,” he continued. “Just wait a little longer, and you’ll see me with short hair. My hair will grow swiftly this year, and I’ll be ready to begin working hard shortly.”
With Jin’s homecoming, BTS ARMY is counting down the days till the other members finish their military commitments. J-Hope enlisted on April 18, 2023; Suga enrolled on September 22, 2023; RM enlisted on December 11, 2023, and Junk Kook and Jimin enlisted on December 12, 2023.
