The Killers sang Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Maps” during their headline show at the Governors Ball on Saturday. The band is gearing up to commemorate Hot Fuss’s 20th anniversary this summer with a residency in Las Vegas.
After playing “Runaways” themselves, Brandon Flowers and crew offered up an acoustic, shortened rendition of the 2003 song “Fever to Tell,” which was released one week before, to the Killers’ “Mr. Brightside.”
According to NME, the Killers previously paid homage to a New York-based, early-2000s band—Interpol, and their hit “Obstacle 1″—when they played Gov Ball in 2016.
Before their performance at this year’s Gov Ball, the Killers warmed up in New York’s Bowery Ballroom, a much smaller venue compared to the stadiums and festival major stages they’ve performed at on tour for the last few decades. The Killers performed Hot Fuss’ “Andy, You’re a Star” live for the first time in 2018, maybe in preparation for their upcoming Vegas residency.
The Killers’ Hot Fuss 25th anniversary gigs in Las Vegas’ The Colosseum at Caesars Palace begin on August 14, with eight shows planned throughout the month. Before that, the band will embark on a European tour next week before returning to the United States for headline performances at Chicago’s Lollapalooza and San Francisco’s Outside Lands festivals.
