Daltrey, 80, told an interviewer that he is looking forward to his impending North American tour. The concerts will be “a mostly acoustic set of Who gems,” but don’t expect him to identify the songs.

“Too many people share songs. In an interview, the Who co-founder said that there are no longer any surprises at performances since everyone wants to know the setlist.

“I am f—— sick of it. The Internet has destroyed live concerts for me. Who wants to know what happens next? People forget about shocks. “I can’t stand it.”

Daltrey’s tour begins Monday, June 10, at Glenside, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia.

In addition to playing “rarities, solo nuggets, and other surprises,” he intends to do Q&A sessions with the audience.

Daltrey tested the Q&A sessions in 2022 for gigs in England and was delighted with the results. Fans will be able to submit written questions at the locations prior to the event. The band will go over them backstage and choose the most intriguing ones.

“It creates a great deal of fun, and you can get some good comedy out of it if you’re lucky,” Daltrey said.

Daltrey and The Who were elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. He played iconic songs with the Who, including “My Generation,” “Baba O’Riley,” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”

On this tour, he will not perform “The Scream.”

He plans to sing “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” but the legendary scream late in the song has taken its toll on his voice over time.

“I am going to get the f—— crowd to yell. Daltrey stated, “I’ve been doing that scream for 55 years, and I’ve had enough.” “I don’t want to try it right now since it’s so bad for my voice chords. They can do the scream, and I will handle everything else. I am more into singing these days. At the age of 80, I believe I deserve to be.”
