We’re RSVPing to this one.
A poster for the upcoming romantic action comedy Shotgun Wedding was recently made available via Prime Video. After starring in the traditional form of a romantic comedy in Kat Coiro’s Marry Me, international superstar singer Jennifer Lopez will now turn the subgenre on its head by preparing to be unhappily married to Josh Duhamel.
Duhamel will play Lopez’s husband in the upcoming film. The plot revolves around a couple who are planning a destination wedding, but things start to go wrong for them as they begin to have doubts about their connection as the wedding day draws closer. The situation becomes even direr when their families are held as hostages, and they are forced to collaborate in order to rescue their loved ones and friends. The debut of the film is scheduled for the latter half of January.
The movie poster for “Shotgun Wedding” gives an indication of the high level of anarchy and mayhem that will be exploited for hilarious advantage in the film. In it, the bride and groom are depicted wearing bridal garb; nonetheless, they do not give the impression that they are attending a wedding at all. Their disheveled hair and dirty faces give the impression that they have gone through a lot, and there is yet more in store for them. There is also the shotgun that is referenced in the title, and it is displayed on top of the J-shoulder Lo’s.
In addition, the poster uses a clever play on words to invite viewers to “Save the Day,” which is exactly what the two main characters will have to do if they want their loved ones to remain alive and also be able to attend the wedding.
The poster also features a fun illustration of the two main characters. Due to the fact that the romantic comedy will not be released for some time yet, it is possible that we will have to wait a few months for the first official trailer before we can witness superstar J. Lo tickling her funny bone once more. However, if the banner is any indication, we are more than prepared to respond with our RSVP for this trip.
The necessity of regrouping and reevaluating one’s objectives are also ideas that rang true for those working behind the camera on Shotgun Wedding. J. Lo and Armie Hammer were supposed to star opposite one another in the film, but we all know what happened to Armie Hammer. The big-budget movie then decided not to go with Hammer and recast the role.
They also invited some big comedy players to the party, including Jennifer Coolidge, D’Arcy Carden from A Good Place, Cheech Marin from The War With Grandpa, Lenny Kravitz from The Hunger Games, Sônia Braga from Aquarius, Selena Tan from Crazy Rich Asians, and Callie Hernandez. In addition to Lopez and Duhamel, the cast will also (The Flight Attendant).
Jason Moore, who was responsible for directing such successful comedies in the past as Pitch Perfect and Sisters, is in charge of directing this film. Mark Hammer, who made his debut as a screenwriter with the film Two Night Stand, is responsible for penning the screenplay for this film.
On January 27, Prime Video will broadcast the first episode of Shotgun Wedding. You are welcome to take a look at the video that follows:
