Season 3 of The Wheel of Time will be the most difficult yet for the Dragon Reborn and his companions. The television adaptation of the fantasy books by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson was made possible through Prime Video. The show premiered in 2021 with Rosamund Pike in the lead role of Aes Sedai Moiraine Damodred, who was on a mission to find the Dragon Reborn. The first season ended with her presumably losing the One Power after discovering the Dragon Reborn.
Season 2 of The Wheel of Time premiered on Prince Video on September 1, 2023, and concluded on October 6, 2023. Several major characters from Jordan’s novels had their stories continued in the show’s eight episodes, while new characters were introduced. Season 2 paralleled the events of book 2, The Great Hunt, and its conclusion coincided with that of the novel. This leaves the option open for a future season to adapt another novel into a live-action film.
Wheel of Time Season 3: Recent News
A lack of current Wheel of Time season 3 news may be attributed to the fact that the second season only just finished airing on Prime Video. Nonetheless, this is encouraging news for Wheel of Time season 3 and the series’ future. After the success of its first season in 2021, the second season of Wheel of Time has returned and is getting rave reviews as well.
If the current season of Wheel of Time continues to receive positive reviews from viewers, there is optimism that more information about season 3 may be forthcoming soon. Reviews for the second season of The Wheel of Time have been overwhelmingly positive. Critics who saw the majority of the season in advance gave it an 80 percent “fresh” rating. This season is more “divisive” than the first. Season 3 of Wheel of Time will air eventually.
When Will Wheel of Time Season 3 Be Available?
The third season of The Wheel of Time was shot before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes shut down Hollywood, starting in the summer. Season 3 might potentially premiere on Prime Video in late 2024, given this information. Season 3 may not premiere until 2025, though, given that roughly two years passed between the prior two.
Wheel of Time Season 3 Renewed for Prime Video
The Wheel of Time was picked up for a third season before season 2 had even aired. A little over a month before the second-season debut, Prime Video announced in July 2023 that they had renewed Wheel of Time for a third season. Amazon made the revelation during its presentation at Comic-Con, detailing what viewers can anticipate from Season 2. At Comic-Con, showrunner Rafe Judkins addressed the renewal of the series (via Deadline).
The production of The Wheel of Time Season 3 will begin soon. Bringing the stories that made me fall in love with these books to a new audience through television is a dream of mine that I’ve been working toward ever since I first pitched the show years ago, and The Shadow Rising has always been my favorite book in the series.
The cast of Wheel of Time Season 3
Prime Video may alter the plot of the book, and as a result, the season 3 cast of Wheel of Time may change. Even though showrunner Rafe Judkins has professed his affection for the book, he has already altered the story from the original novels. According to the source material, all of the major players from season 2 of The Wheel of Time should be back for season 3. Among them are Joshua Stradowski as Rand al’Thor, Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Dónal Finn as Mat Cauthon, and Zo Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara.
Additionally, the returning Wheel of Time cast members should also include:
- Jennifer Cheon Garcia as Leane Sharif
- Kate Fleetwood as Liandrin Guirale
- Johann Myers as Padan Fain Kae Alexander as Min Farshaw
- Hammed Animashaun as Loial
- Priyanka Bose as Alanna Mosvani
- Taylor Napier as Maksim
- Lindsay Duncan as Anvaere Damodred
- Ayoola Smart as Aviendha
- Laia Costa as Moghedien Meera Syal as Verin Mathwin
- Ceara Coveney as Elayne Trakand
- Jay Duffy as Dain Bornhald
Story of Season 3 of Wheel of Time
The Shadow Rising will serve as inspiration for season 3 of The Wheel of Time. Since The Shadow Rising is the fourth novel in the series, the program may either completely ignore book three, The Dragon Reborn, or combine parts from both novels into one. The protagonists of the aforementioned work, Rand, Mat, and Egwene, go to the Aiel Waste, and Perrin returns to the Two Rivers. Because Aviendha of the Aiel has already established that Rand is the Car’a’carn, the stage is prepared for this to occur. That being the case, I would expect him to go to the Aiel Waste next.
In the last moments of Season 2, the villain Moghedien, a member of the Forsaken never before seen on the show, confronted Lanfear. Laia Costa’s portrayal of The Dreamwalking Channeler is quickly evolving into their most significant foe. She won’t be alone, however; Moghedien said that Ishamael let out all the surviving Forsaken before he died. This allowed for many potential antagonists to emerge for the major characters to face off against in The Wheel of Time season 3.
