One of the most anticipated forthcoming releases on Amazon Prime Video is season 4 of The Boys, and judging on the teasers, it promises to be the most action-packed season ever. The third season of The Boys ended in 2022, and the new spinoff Gen V premiered in 2023 to fill the time before the fourth season. The stage has been set for a key next season in the series, with many unanswered mysteries. Hughie and Butcher’s lives may drastically alter in the fourth season of The Boys.
In the previous season of The Boys, Homelander (Antony Starr) went over the deep end, Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) seemed to die, and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) received superpowers from Temp-V. In the last scene, Homelander adopts Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) and immediately starts grooming him for a life of violence, setting up Season 4 of The Boys. It’s also obvious that Hughie and Butcher’s experimentation with Temp-V has negative consequences. Gen V’s September premiere has renewed fans’ interest in The Boys’ fourth season, and despite the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, many updates have been released on what to expect. The cast and crew of The Boys have been dropping hints that the spinoff series on Amazon Prime Video will be almost required watching for fans of the series.
For example, Claudia Doumit (who plays Victoria Neuman and also stars in Gen V) told Entertainment Weekly before the SAG-AFTRA strikes began that the spinoff will “set the stage” for season 4 of The Boys and that “it was great to shoot Gen V because they tee up a lot of stuff that’s going to happen in season 4 for The Boys.” The foundations and basis for The Boys’ fourth season are laid in Gen V. Many cast members from previous seasons of The Boys are back for season 4.
