Harry Styles made a surprise appearance at Niall Horan’s The Show Live on Tour concert at Co-op Live in Manchester, England, on August 27. A fan video captured the moment Styles joined the audience, dancing along to Horan’s cover of the One Direction hit “Stockholm Syndrome,” from their 2014 album Four.
This album was the last to feature the original One Direction lineup, including Styles, Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne, before Malik’s departure in 2015.
In the video, Styles is seen in a yellow cardigan, white T-shirt, and facial hair, energetically moving to the music and waving his arms in the air. The background features Horan performing the lyrics, “Oh, baby, you got me tied down. Oh, baby, I’ll never leave if you keep holding me this way.”
Horan’s concert is part of his 2023 tour following the release of his third solo album, The Show, which came out last November. The tour has already seen notable guest appearances, including Ed Sheeran’s surprise performance in Dublin. A live album version of The Show is set for release on September 5, with the single “Heaven” already available.
Meanwhile, Styles, who has kept a low profile recently, has been reflecting on his One Direction days. Earlier this summer, he joined Stevie Nicks for a duet of “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” and “Landslide” at BST Hyde Park, marking what would have been Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie’s 81st birthday. Styles had previously shown his nostalgia for his boy band’s past by posting and later deleting a gym selfie featuring One Direction merchandise.
At the 2023 BRIT Awards, Styles paid tribute to his former bandmates during his acceptance speech for British Artist of the Year, thanking them for their role in his success. “I want to thank Niall, Louis, Liam, and Zayn because I wouldn’t be here without you either,” he said.
However, speculation about a One Direction reunion remains uncertain. Simon Cowell, a former X Factor judge, expressed doubts about the band’s potential return. He mentioned that contractual complexities, with each member owning a share of the band’s name, could hinder any future tours or reunions. Cowell commented, “If one band member says they don’t want to tour, it can stop the others from touring,” casting a shadow over the possibility of a reunion.
