Carrie Underwood Pays Tribute to Toby Keith with ‘A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action’ at Concert

Carrie Underwood is set to ignite the stage in a heartfelt tribute to the late Toby Keith during Peacock’s special concert event, Toby Keith: American Icon. Underwood will kick off the show with an exclusive performance of Keith’s classic hit, “A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action,” capturing the energy and passion that defined Keith’s music. The tribute, filmed at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, features a striking backdrop of Keith’s image, setting a poignant tone for the evening.

In her introduction, Underwood, who has recently announced her return as a judge on American Idol, addresses the crowd with warmth and admiration: “Nashville! We are all here for one reason — this incredible man.” Her vibrant performance is a fitting homage to Keith’s 1993 hit, which launched his career and became a staple of country music.

Keith’s passing in February at the age of 62 due to stomach cancer prompted Underwood to share a heartfelt Instagram tribute. “Saddle up the horses, Jesus, ‘cause a true blue COWBOY just made his ride up to heaven!!!” she wrote, reflecting on Keith’s lasting impact and her deep respect for him.

The concert will bring together a host of country music stars, each paying their respects in their unique way. Eric Church will deliver a powerful rendition of “As Good as I Once Was,” while Brantley Gilbert and HARDY will perform “How Do You Like Me Now?!” Riley Green and Ella Langley will sing “Who’s Your Daddy?” and Ashley McBryde will tackle “Wish I Didn’t Know Now.” Luke Bryan will bring his cowboy charm to “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” and Lainey Wilson and Jamey Johnson will join forces for “Beer for My Horses.”

Darius Rucker is set to perform “God Love Her,” Jordan Davis and Clay Walker will take on “I Love This Bar,” and Tyler Hubbard will lead a high-energy rendition of “Red Solo Cup” with Jelly Roll, HARDY, and other notable performers. Keith’s daughter, Krystal Keith, will also grace the stage, adding a deeply personal touch to the tribute.

The event, featuring appearances by celebrities like Brett Favre, Trace Adkins, and Parker McCollum, celebrates Keith’s remarkable legacy of 42 Top 10 songs, 33 No. 1 hits, and 44 million albums sold. Toby Keith: American Icon airs on Peacock on Wednesday, August 28, from 9-11 p.m. ET/PT, promising a memorable evening that honors one of country music’s greatest legends.
