We are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to see the upcoming films and TV shows by Austin Butler. An accomplished actor known for his notable contributions to the entertainment industry.
Austin Butler, who played Elvis, is now one of the most sought-after performers in the business. It’s hard to imagine that the child actor who was featured in Aliens in the Attic, Ned’s Declassified: School Survival Guide and Zoey 101 is now up for an Oscar. But after his turn as Elvis, Butler catapulted to prominence and is now widely regarded as one of the industry’s finest performers. His career doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all, even if he didn’t win the Oscar for Best Actor.
Butler quickly gained recognition as one of the most intriguing actors of the following ten years after landing the role of Tex Watson in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019). Jeff Nicolas and Denis Villeneuve are both interested in working with him, and he’s probably on the shortlist of every major casting director. What can fans of Austin Butler expect from him in his forthcoming roles?
The Bikeriders (2023)
New Regency is currently producing a drama film titled The Bikeriders. Butler will be joining the likes of Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Jodie Comer (Free Guy), Tom Hardy (Venom: Let There Be Carnage), Mike Faist (West Side Story), and Nichols regular Michael Shannon (Take Shelter) in this film from director Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special, Loving).
The movie is said to be based on the photographs of Danny Lyon, which were published in a book with the same title in 1967. This is an original tale from the 1960s that tracks the emergence of a motorcycle gang in the Midwest and delves into the personal conflicts of its members. The Bikeriders is an adventure via unwavering devotion, a connection among a close-knit Biker gang that sheds light on the challenges of being a member of such a group, and the ominous change of a crew that enjoys good times together into a dark club and mounting danger.
The Bikeriders will give spectators a real glimpse at the grime and dangers of a motorcycle gang in the 1960s, and they’ll go away smelling like exhaust and grease. After premiering on August 31, 2023, at the Telluride Picture Festival, the picture was met with acclaim from reviewers. Oscar buzz has begun to form around the movie. On December 1, 2023, Bikeriders will premiere in cinemas.
Dune: Part Two (2024)
Starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, and Jason Momoa, the first Dune revived the brand effectively. Fans of Frank Herbert’s classic book will be thrown into the far future when Duke Leto Atreides (Isaac) agrees to rule over the perilous desert planet Arrakis, the sole source of the most precious commodity in the
cosmos, often referred to as “the spice.” The original, which Denis Villeneuve directed, was a critical and commercial success and deservedly won several Academy Awards.
Butler portrays the villain Feyd-Rautha from the 1984 film Dune in the forthcoming sequel Dune: Part Two. He is the brother of Dave Bautista’s Glossu Rabban and the nephew of Stellan Skarsgard’s Baron Harkonnen. Since Butler’s incarnation of Feyd-Rautha is so diametrically opposed to that of Elvis Presley, maybe his position in Dune: Part Two will provide him the opportunity to finally let go of that mannerism. He had to draw on his martial arts training for this next film, and the result is a performance that will leave viewers of the finished product shaken.
Butler recently told Deadline that he and Villeneuve had a great time working together. “It was just so much fun for me, especially playing this role, to get to do something so different from anything I’ve ever done before.” Moviegoers were anticipating its debut at the beginning of November this year, but the release date had to be pushed back owing to strikes happening in the film sector. The new release date for Dune 2 is March 15, 2024.
City on Fire
Austin Butler is said to be appearing in the forthcoming Sony-owned 3000 Pictures film City on Fire, both as an actor and a first-time producer. Based on Don Winslow’s April 2022 book of the same name, the film will follow the story of Danny Ryan, a teenage criminal who transforms from a soldier into a leader.
David Heyman will be in charge of producing every Harry Potter and Paddington movie. The first of a planned trilogy, City on Fire, follows the struggle for dominance in New England between two criminal empires with Irish and Italian roots. Homer’s The Iliad, The Odyssey, and The Aeneid have an influence on the story. Sony Pictures is aiming to get the film ready for an awards season release in 2024 or 2025, but there is currently no director or screenplay committed to the project.
Masters of the Air (Mini series)
Butler will also appear in the upcoming Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg television series Masters of the Air, which is a follow-up to HBO’s critically acclaimed World War II drama Band of Brothers. Masters of the Air follows the lives of the men of the 100th Bomb Group as they experience brotherhood, tragedy, and the struggle to survive in the wake of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Masters of the Air is a 10-episode series that can only be seen on Apple TV+. The series is expected to cost well over $200 million to create, so no expense will be spared. John Orloff, who authored Band of Brothers, is penning the series. It will recount the narrative of the Eighth Air Force of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, and it will be based on the book Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany by Donald L. Miller. Major Gale Cleven will be played by Austin Butler, and the show is scheduled for a fall 2023 premiere..
