Ahead of us lies one of the most anticipated shows to emerge from the partnership between Netflix and Ryan Murphy. We are referring to DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Narrative, which is an engrossing 10-part limited series that was developed by Murphy and his long-time colleague Ian Brennan. This series tells the story of the notorious serial killer in a compelling format.
Murphy, Ian Brennan (Glee, Ratched, Scream Queens), and David McMillan are the three individuals that contributed to the writing of the script for DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (Lucifer, Sleepy Hollow).
Carl Franklin (House of Cards, Mindhunter), Paris Barclay (NYPD Blue), and Janet Mock are the three people who have been confirmed to direct episodes of the limited series. Franklin will direct the premiere episode (Pose, Hollywood). Along with Murphy and Brennan, all three filmmakers will serve in the role of executive producer for the series. Rashad Johnson, who is involved with the Color of Change initiative for racial justice, will also serve as the show’s supervising producer.
As part of his massive overall contract with Netflix, Ryan Murphy is working on a variety of projects for the streaming service, including DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. This particular project is only one among several.
When will DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is released on Netflix?
Although a specific date for the release of DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has not been disclosed as of yet, it has been established that the film will make its debut in the latter half of 2022.
We have been given the unique right to announce that Netflix plans to release the first full season of the show on September 21st, 2022, and Netflix has officially confirmed this date.
On September 16, a complete trailer will be made available, and it is anticipated that a second trailer will be released on September 20, 2022.
This is one of three upcoming projects that will be released by Ryan Murphy in the fall of 2022. The following project after Dahmer will be Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, which will be released on October 5th, followed by The Watcher, which is scheduled to be released in the middle of October 2022.
Who was Jeffrey Dahmer and what is the plot of the Netflix series?
Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, was a notorious American serial killer and sex offender who murdered and dismembered 17 men and boys between the years of 1978 and 1991. A large majority of the victims were people of colour, and some of the victims were minors.
The majority of the homicides were accompanied by necrophilia, acts of cannibalism, and the retention of body parts. In spite of the fact that he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and a psychotic disorder, the judge who presided over Dahmer’s trial determined that he was legally sane. After being found guilty of 16 murders, he was killed by another convict in 1994, when he had already served two years of his sentence. He was 34.
According to Deadline, the events depicted in Monster are said to take place over the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s before culminating with Dahmer’s arrest in 1991. Additionally, in comparison to past adaptations of Dahmer’s story, it is anticipated to take a more psychological approach. Monster will concentrate more on the circumstances around how these killings were permitted to continue for such a long period of time.
Monster, Netflix’s biopic on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, has the following official logline:
“Monster chronicles the story of one of America’s most notorious serial killers, largely told from the point of view of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims, and dives deeply into the police incompetence and apathy that allowed the Wisconsin native to go on a multiyear killing spree. The series dramatizes at least 10 instances where Dahmer was almost apprehended but ultimately let go. The series also is expected to touch on white privilege, as Dahmer, a cleancut, good-looking white guy, was repeatedly given a free pass by cops as well as by judges who were lenient when he had been charged with petty crimes.“
Will the events of actual life be portrayed accurately in the storyline of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story?
Even if the limited series is based on real-life events that were documented, we cannot expect a 100% accurate recreation of all that had a place. Things get changed and rearranged for dramatic purposes in practically all movies and television shows that are based on real-life events.
We can also anticipate a respectable quantity of additional content that will help to place the events of the plot in their proper context, better flesh out the characters, and fill in the blanks wherever they exist.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace, the second season of Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story, is perhaps the most relevant example to use here because it tells the story of Andrew Cunanan, the person who was responsible for the murder of Gianni Versace, over the course of nine episodes. In this particular case, Versace was the victim of a murder. It is possible for us to witness a variety of perspectives, as well as a number of Cunanan’s other victims from before he killed Versace. People have remarked that Murphy remembered most of the facts of the case, despite the fact that he invented his own scenes to place things in context and fill in the blanks.
Having said that, Ryan Murphy’s series is based on historical events, and people are often praising the amazing casting of the show’s characters, particularly the ability to locate actors who look like their real-life counterparts and are also great performers.

Glenda Cleveland, a neighbour of Dahmer’s who sought to contact the FBI to warn them of Dahmer’s erratic behaviour but was unsuccessful in her attempts, will be portrayed by Nash in the film. Glenda Cleveland tried to contact the FBI on multiple occasions.
