Joey King Discusses Sabrina Carpenter’s New Album, Choosing Her Favorite Track and Calling It “Perfect”

For Joey King, everything about her friend Sabrina Carpenter’s new album is “Short n’ Sweet.”

The Kissing Booth actress, 25, couldn’t stop praising Carpenter’s latest project during an interview at Tory Burch’s NYFW show on Monday, September 9.

When asked about her favorite track from the album, which dropped on Friday, August 23, King admitted, “My favorite changes literally every day. It’s been really tough because I’ve been asking myself this question daily.”

King shared some of her top picks, saying, “I’m torn because ‘Bed Chem’ is absolutely amazing. I can’t get enough of it.”

Yet another track is giving Carpenter’s hits a run for King’s top choice.

King revealed, “‘Taste’ is just so… I want to dance to that at the club. Maybe it’s not a club song, but I’m obsessed with it.”

She also praised another favorite, saying, “‘Don’t Smile’ is a perfect song. I genuinely believe it’s flawless.”

King, always supportive of her fellow former Disney star, expressed her excitement for Carpenter’s success back in June, celebrating the 25-year-old’s achievements with enthusiasm.

“Yesterday was the first time I’d seen her perform in a few years because our schedules always seemed to clash,” King said at the Despicable Me 4 premiere, referring to Carpenter’s performance at the Governors Ball music festival a few days earlier.

“I was literally sobbing after the show. I was so proud of her. She’s just amazing,” King added, reflecting on her friend’s remarkable performance.

“I’m so happy for her and can’t stop singing ‘Please Please Please’… it just won’t get out of my head,” King said of Carpenter’s hit song, produced by Taylor Swift’s longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff.

King admitted that Carpenter’s music isn’t the only thing she’s hooked on. She confessed that the video for “Please Please Please,” featuring Carpenter’s boyfriend, Barry Keoghan, is equally “addicting.”

“It’s so rude of her to create such a hit and an addicting music video,” King joked. “It’s really unfair that I’m watching it six times at 2:00 a.m. when I should be going to bed.”

Both King and Carpenter are achieving new career milestones. Carpenter recently gained major recognition by opening for Taylor Swift on her global Eras Tour and saw significant success with her hit song “Espresso.”

King, on the other hand, stars in Despicable Me 4 and has appeared in Netflix’s rom-com A Family Affair.

Carpenter’s album Short n’ Sweet is now available to stream on all platforms.
