The cause of death for Lucy-Bleu Knight, the stepdaughter of legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, has been revealed. According to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office, Lucy-Bleu tragically passed away due to “hydrogen sulfide toxicity” at the age of 25. Her death has been ruled a suicide.
Hydrogen sulfide, as noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is a highly toxic and colorless gas. Exposure to high concentrations can lead to rapid unconsciousness and, ultimately, death.
On July 21, Slash, 59, took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news that Lucy-Bleu had passed away “peacefully” in Los Angeles on July 19. He described her as an “incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul.” In his post, he also requested privacy and asked that social media speculation be kept to a minimum as the family grieves and processes this devastating loss.
At the time of the announcement, Slash did not disclose details regarding the cause of Lucy-Bleu’s death. When contacted, representatives for the musician declined to comment on the matter.
Just two days after her passing, on July 21, a scheduled post appeared on Lucy-Bleu’s Instagram account. The post featured a selfie and a caption reflecting on her relationships with the people in her life, giving a glimpse into her thoughts during her final days.
In his Instagram tribute, Slash shared that Lucy-Bleu, born on December 6, 1998, was the “beloved daughter of Meegan Hodges and Mark Knight, stepdaughter of Samantha Somers Knight and Slash, sister of Scarlet Knight, and stepsister of London and Cash Hudson.”
On July 28, Slash posted another heartfelt message in memory of his late stepdaughter. “My heart is permanently fractured,” he wrote alongside a photo of Lucy-Bleu. “I will never ever stop missing you & remembering what a beacon of happiness, laughter, creativity & beauty you have always been. & still are.” He continued, “The brightest light in the lives of so many that loved you so much. I find solace in the hope that you are at peace now. I will love you eternally.”
Slash, whose real name is Saul Hudson, first began dating Lucy-Bleu’s mother, Meegan Hodges, in 1989. Though the couple parted ways, they rekindled their relationship more than two decades later in 2015.
Before the announcement of Lucy-Bleu’s death, Slash had canceled four shows on his S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival 2024 tour, originally scheduled between July 22-27, citing personal reasons.
