Post Malone Admits He ‘Can’t Even Fathom’ Reaching Taylor Swift and Beyoncé’s Level of Fame: ‘It Must Be Tough’

Post Malone recently opened up about his collaborations with Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, sharing insights into the intense levels of secrecy and security surrounding their projects.

In an interview with The New York Times on August 8, the 29-year-old artist reflected on working with the two superstars for their 2024 albums, The Tortured Poets Department and Cowboy Carter. Malone described the extraordinary measures taken to protect Swift and Beyoncé’s privacy, revealing how Swift had to ride in a golf cart concealed under an umbrella and drapes to avoid drone and helicopter surveillance while filming the music video for their hit single “Fortnight.”

Beyoncé’s approach to secrecy was even more rigorous. To prevent leaks before her country album’s February release, Malone recalled how he received their track “LEVII’S JEANS” via a representative who delivered it directly to his Utah compound. Reflecting on the experience, Malone admitted, “I can’t even imagine being at their level — it must suck,” acknowledging the immense pressure that comes with such fame.

Despite the challenges, Malone expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to work with such iconic artists, even though he and Beyoncé never met in person during their collaboration, instead communicating mostly through text. He described the experience as “terrifying,” but remains honored to have been involved.

Malone has consistently praised both Swift and Beyoncé since their collaborations. After Beyoncé’s album dropped on March 29, he took to Instagram to express his admiration, writing, “Thank you Beyoncé. congrats this album is beautiful.” When Swift released TTPD the following month, Malone shared a Polaroid photo of the two with the heartfelt caption, “It’s once in a lifetime that someone like @taylorswift comes into this world. I am floored by your heart and your mind, and I am beyond honored to have been asked to help you with your journey. I love you so much. Thank you, Tay.”

During the interview, Malone also reflected on his own rise to stardom since his 2015 debut and discussed his forthcoming country music album, F-1 Trillion, which is set to release on August 16. Featuring collaborations with country legends like Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Lainey Wilson, and Jelly Roll, the album marks a new chapter in Malone’s genre-bending career.

Malone’s guitarist, Derek Wells, vouched for the authenticity of the project, stating, “He’s not playing dress-up here.” Wells emphasized that Malone’s foray into country music is sincere, noting, “In this moment that the genre is having, a lot of us are used to so-and-so making a country project right now, and we’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to those. I’ve watched Malone very much ask permission to be in this genre. He’s doing everything right.”
